The base unit itself can detect motion and sound, and when its smart sensors are triggered it can record in 1080 HD video. Although the unit has nightvision capability, it can also be connected with smart sensors and Z wave lighting units, to expand its range both inside and outside of your property. It's also compatible with a number of other smarthome devices, which can be configured so that even when you are away, indoor and outdoor lighting can be programmed to simulate someone at home. When an event is triggered, an alert can be sent via text to your phone or other device, along with a video and/or audio clip of it. This allows you to decide whether the event is worth further action. However, the base unit is intended to work as more than a security device, and is also powered by Amazon's Alexa assistant.

That is unless you don’t have an existing doorbell, in which case we recommend you hire an electrician. However, if you don’t have an existing doorbell and you want to buy a hardwired doorbell camera, you will probably need to hire an electrician to do the installation for you. Because if there is no existing doorbell wiring present, your new doorbell camera will need to be completed wired with new wiring. So unless you are an electrician, or have significant electrical skills, you probably should not attempt to do this type of installation yourself. Because not only could it be dangerous, it could also turn into a fire hazard if it is not done right. Electricity is not something you want to take any chances with.

Now I know. This feels like an offshoot of Sunday's puzzle with common phrases reimagined as expressions of a certain trade or activity. The choices here do seem old fashioned, as if they were lifted from a "Highlights for Children" magazine, but I enjoyed the fact that the grid was a bit crunchier than the usual Tuesday. Write overs included "adage" before MORAL, "adieu" before ADIOS, "am too" before IS TOO, and "hemp" before HERB. VROOM appears for at least the second time in recent days as does ATHOS, SEL, PEP, and the ever recurring, ever irritating APSE. Interesting that today's pan from Rex is offset by a top rating POW!from Jeff Chen.
